Day 25 - Sunday June1st

Sad news I'm afraid, after much consideration Jo hs decided to call it a day. Her back was really painful yesterday and although she hadn't let on her feet are very bruised too from all of the rocky tracks. She phoned this morning to let me know of the decision to stop at Sahagun and asked me to sort out a route home. Luckily she is on on the Leon Madrid train line so she will catch a train to Madrid and then a flight has been booked to get her into Birmingham tomorrow afternoon.

Although disappointed to have to give up Jo is talking about returning next year to finish the walk... I think I might be going too! She talked passionately today about of the many different people that she has met on the way and today whilst drinking coffee in Sahagun several walkers that she had met in the past saw her and came to talk to her about their adventures and problems. Jo described meeting and talking to so many different people as the highlight of the walk.

For those of you following Ann's route she has reached Villa France del Bierzo today after walking about 20 miles. She reports that the weather is good with bright sunshine and she is in the Caldellera mountains. She is OK except for a blister on her big toe which she thought she had got rid of a few days ago but has reoccured

I will ty to keep the Ann's part of the Blog going although there may not be as much detail as before.

Ann - 368 miles covered, 118 miles to go. Here's the google satellite map showing Ann's position and impending terrain
